Meditations

Meditation to Focus the Mind

Finding a quiet space, where you can sit comfortably,
light a candle and place this in front of you.

Take a few moments to relax yourself, breathing deeply
into your abdomen and breathing out any tension
you may be holding.

Once you feel calm and relaxed, gently allow
your gaze to fix on the flame of the candle,
allowing yourself to blink as and when you need to.

Keep all your attention on the flame.
If your attention drifts
or you find yourself thinking about the candle
rather than simply resting your gaze upon it,
then gently refocus on the flame.

Continue this exercise for as long as feels
comfortable, staying relaxed and blinking as you need to.

Over time you will find that it becomes easier
to concentrate for  longer periods
as your ability to focus
your attention becomes more developed.
